Reflection
To work on a photo essay as the third assignment was a great leap from the previous assignment. I am beginning to feel that the learning curve for this module is a rather steep one for me. For this assignment, I chose to focus on Changi coast as my subject. I am trying to portray the transformation from a fishing village that Singapore used to be to a place of leisure and livelihood for many. The scenery by itself has a touch of the rustic past with a mixture of modern lifestyle. The kelong walk, numerous fishing spots as well as the seafood businesses are reminiscent of the old fishing village that once stood here. Despite the area bustling with activities, Changi coast is also a favorite spot for leisure as seen with the numbers of chalets sprouting in the area and several centres for water sports. My intention was to capture the liveliness and energy emitting from this tiny spot in Singapore. My last photo shows the unsightly scene that few would notice. The trash that is scattered over the beach emphasizes on the importance of keeping the environment clean in order for the continuity of these activities.
Self-Assessment
I would rate this assignment 95/100. (50 for creativity and 45 for effort)

I like the pics...I think they are well composed
the style or the way you took photo 5 seemed rather different from the rest. it seems out of place.
why do you say so? no close up or focus on a subject?
yes. your focus is at the side, in half somemore. the photo is rather empty, so it is easy to determine the subject. your focus would have been lost if the photo was more cluttered.
oh i understand what you mean. since most of my photo has a close up or focus. this photo is not consistent with the others.
I can't exactly tell what is the focus for Photo 1. The red is distracting, and the fish net takes the eyes away from what is supposedly the intended focus (the background). Could do with more blurring of the foreground.
Great angles for some of the photos, like 2 and 3.
I love the pictures, brings us away from the busy city life to the relax environment.
Enjoy the simple lifestyle.
Great work!
The shots are well-taken, it is very detailed, and protrayed the a very relaxing lifestlye..
There seems to be a lack of a main focus for Photo 1 and 2 but i thought the last 2 photos were very well taken though. There is a very nice contrast between the blues and the other main colours captured.
